Important Quotes

Here is a listing of some quotes that I think are particularly good, or really nail an important theme from the Mewtwo Saga. If the quote is from the Japanese, the names given will be the Japanese, and if the quote is from the English dub, the names will be the English. After the quote, I will write BOM if it is from the Birth of Mewtwo, MSB if it's from Mewtwo Strikes Back, and MR for Mewtwo Returns.

Why am I here?

Myuutsuu: Where is this place? Who am I? Who brought me here? (BOM)

Joi: (after being released from Myuutsuu's psychic hold) Where is this place? Why am I here? (MSB)

Myuutsuu: Who am I and why am I here? (MSB)

Satoshi: But why are we here?
Katsumi: I don't know. We're here because we are here. (MSB)

Ai: Isn't it great?
Myuutsuu: Great?
Ai: Right. I don't care if I'm not real or whether I'm Aitwo, Aithree, or Aifour...I mean, we're all here! This is really great! (BOM)

Equality

Mewtwo: That cannot be. You said we were partners. We stood as equals.
Giovanni: You were created by humans to obey humans. You could never be our equal. (MSB)

Mewtwo: This place is beautiful. But what right have I to judge? What do I know of this world and its beauty? I am not like other creatures. I am not of this world. We are clones, copies, products of science. We are outcasts. So we must live as outcasts, if we are to live at all. (MR)

Meowth: You're right, we do have a lot in common. The same Earth, the same air, the same sky... Maybe if we started lookin' at what's the same, instead o' always lookin' at what's different, well, who knows? (MSB)

Mewtwo: For these Pokemon, life is as it should be. They were born into this world. It is their home. They belong here. We were not born as they were. We are not of this world. We do not belong in it. But where do we belong?

Myuutsuu: (to Myuu) Your attacks are ineffective against me. Now is the time to decide which one of us is the true one, you the copy... which is the stronger? We were made stronger than the real ones.
Myuu: Myuu, myuu... myuu myuu myuu... myuu, myuu... myuu myuu myuu
Nyasu: I see.
Musashi: What is it saying?
Nyasu: The real one is real. If they fight only using bodies without skills, the true ones will not be beaten by their copies
Myuutsuu: The real one is real?.... Fine! Let's decide which is the real one without skills. You're the stronger ones, GO! (All the clones start attacking the original versions of themselves.)
Joi: What is this fighting? Both the real ones and copies are alive now.
Sweet: Everyone is a living thing.
Takeshi: Though they were created, they are living beings that live in this world.
Katsumi: The real ones and the copies... But both of them are the same living things. There's no such thing as winning and losing. (MSB)

Joi: They will fight until they drive their opponents away. That is the way of living beings.
Takeshi: That may be for living beings, but Myuustuu was made by humans.
Katsumi: But now he's a living being.
Satoshi: Now they are all living beings. Myuustuu and Myuu, Pikachu and that other Pikachu. (MSB)

Myuustuu: (to Myuu) Actually, both you and I are Pokemon that already exist. (MSB)

Myuutsuu: We were born and are alive. We will continue to live somewhere in this world. (MSB)

Human or Pokemon

Ai: I'm a human, born just like you.
Myuutsuu: A human? Then I must be a human too!
Ai: We can talk, so maybe you're a human. Or maybe I'm a Pokemon.
Myuutsuu: A human? A Pokemon? What's that? Which am I?
Ai: It doesn't matter. We were born in the same way. All of us here was born in the same way. (BOM)

Myuutsuu: Ai, what are we?
Ai: You're a strange and a very wonderful pocket monster.
Myuutsuu: A pocket monster? Then you're a pocket monster too, Ai?
Ai: No, I'm a human. But I'm a copy so...so... (BOM)

Myuutsuu: Ai..I..I'm in the glass...in the water, but water is flowing from my eyes...what is this?
Ai: (Giggles) That's probably..tears.
Myuutsuu: Tears?
Ai: Papa said all living things don't shed tears unless their bodies hurt. And the only ones who shed tears because they're sad are humans...Myuutsuu... (BOM)

Myuutsuu: Living creatures don't shed tears. If they do, they're only tears of pain. I'll not cry even tears of sadness or pain. Because I must be the world's strongest...I don't have sadness or pain! (BOM)

Trainer: Wah! You're going to attack a human?
Sakaki: There's no human nor Pokemon to Myuutsuu. He defeats the strong, takes the weak, and will chase away those who interfere. (BOM)

Myuutsuu: I was created by humans, but I'm not a human. Since I was a created Pokemon, I'm not even a Pokemon! (BOM)

Free Will

Mewtwo: Is that my purpose? Am I just an experiment? A laboratory specimen? This cannot be my destiny! (MSB)

Mewtwo: Now I fully perceive my power. But what is my purpose?
Giovanni: To serve your master. You were created to fight for me. That is your purpose. (MSB)

Mewtwo: Humans may have created me, but they will never enslave me! This cannot be my destiny! (MSB)

Mewtwo: I was not born a Pokemon, I was created. And my creators have used and betrayed me. So, I stand alone! (MSB)

Morality of Cloning

Myuutsuu: Myuu? Is that my parent? My father? My mother?
Dr. Fuji: You can say that, but not really. You've been made stronger based on a Myuu.
Myuutsuu: Who is this? If neither my father nor mother, then was it God? Did God create me?
Dr. Fuji: In the world, the only ones that can create new life is man and God.
Myuutsuu: Who did this? Humans made me? (MSB)

Myuutsuu: Make them? As many as you want? That's not right. There's only one Ai. (BOM)

Myuutsuu: Cake? Milk?
Ai: Cake is sweet..and soft...and usually not adults, but children love it!
Myuutsuu: Then you must like it too Ai.
Ai: I've never had it before. I mean, I can't eat in here, in the water.
Myuutsuu: Hmm...How about milk?
Ai: It's something that newborn babies, not adults, want the most. But... (Giggles) hehehe. I've never had that either. I've cried before because I wanted it though. (BOM)

Myuustuu: Who am I? Where is this place? Who asked to make me? Who wished to make me? I hate everything that made me! So this is neither an attack, nor a declaration of war, but revenge on you who made me! (MSB)
