Once again, we have Lumina Sumnor to thank, for giving up her free time and writing her little fingers off for us, so that we can enjoy this script of Mewtwo Returns! Let's have a round of applause! Thanks again!

Scene opens up with familiar orange bubbles and images of the scientists and the lab from the first movie.

Mewtwo: *Narrating* I am Mewtwo. I am unlike other Pokemon. This is my story. A team of scientists working to create the world's most powerful Pokemon discovered a fossilized remnant of Mew, and from it created me.

Scientist: Radio Giovanni's helicopter! Tell him what's happened!

Prof. Smith: Quiet! Let us hear its psychic powers!

Mewtwo destroys the lab.

Mewtwo: *Cont. narrating* Soon the Team Rocket leader, who had ordered my creation, trained me to control my abilities. But he viewed me solely as his personal property.

Giovanni: You were created by humans to obey humans.

Mewtwo: I was not born a Pokemon, I was created. And my creators have used and betrayed me. So, I stand alone!

Mewtwo blows up TR Headquarters.

Mewtwo: *Cont. narrating* After destroying his laboratory, I created my own. I lured Pokemon trainers to my island fortress to create a powerful new breed of Pokemon and wreak vengeance on humans. I seized their Pokemon and cloned them, just as I have been cloned from Mew. But soon, I encountered my nemesis.

Mew: Mew mew mew, mew mew!

Mewtwo: *Cont. narrating* A great battle ensued. A battle to determine who would rule: The Pokemon born into this world, or the cloned Pokemon created in mine. The clashes were brutal. And as Mew and I summoned all of our strength for one final confrontation, the young trainer cried out for the fighting to cease.

Ash: STOOOPP!!!

Mewtwo: *Cont. narrating* His selfless actions puzzled me. He was a human who valued all Pokemon, whether born or created. Our battling ceased. Finally, my eyes had been opened... as had my heart. The Pokemon clones and I left to find a place where we could live in peace, and I used my psychic powers to wipe out the memory of our struggle. Now I am forgotten by all but the one who created me, the one whose desire to control me still burns.

Scene shifts to scans of a region on a computer screen.

Female TR member: These are live satellite pictures of a remote area of the Johto region. Extreme weather conditions make it uninhabitable... for people. But keep watching.

Computer scans in on Mewtwo in the region.

Giovanni: *Eyes widen* I've found you.

Mewtwo overlooks the lake with the other Pokemon clones.

Mewtwo: This place is beautiful. But what right have I to judge? What do I know of this world and its beauty? I am not like other creatures. I am not of this world. We are clones, copies, products of science. We are outcasts. So we must live as outcasts, if we are to live at all. We shall stay here, far from the world, far from man. It is our only hope. For if we do not live in secret, we shall never live in peace.

Flashy intro plays.

Narrator: Today, Ash and his friends begin an unforgettable adventure as they approach an intriguing landmark in the far reaches of the Johto region.

Ash and co. see a big mountain.

Misty: That must be...

Ash: Must be!

Brock: That's it alright: Purity Canyon, the Johto region's greatest natural wonder!

Ash: Yeah, no wonder.

Misty: Wonder how we get across it?

Brock: The book says it's almost impossible on foot. The only way to get across it is by bus, but it only makes the trip once a month.

Misty: When does it leave?

Brock: Lunchtime today. Too bad we won't be able to go.

Ash: Why not? We still have time to make it!

Brock: I know, but I've been planning to try a brand new recipe and make spicy pizza pancakes for lunch.

Ash: *Drools* Really?

Misty: Look! *Points to a passing bus down the cliff* That must be the bus down there!

Brock: I guess so.

Ash: Aaahh! Come on, maybe we can catch it! *Everyone starts running for the bus*

Starts to rain.

Ash: Oh, no, it's raining!

Brock: Hey, I know. I'll use my trusty frying pan *Puts pan over his head* as a drying pan!

Scene zooms out to reveal that Team Rocket is spying on the gang with binoculars.

Jessie: Haha! Look at those twerps running around in the rain.

James: Imagine coming to Purity Canyon and not having the foresight to bring shelter from the inevitable storms. It's a good thing I packed this umbrella. *Eats kabob*

Meowth: Yeah, but what're we gonna to do when the bad weather hits?

Jessie: This is bad weather. What are you talking about?

Meowth: I'm talking about typhoons.

Jessie & James: Typhoons?

Meowth: According to the guidebook, "The unique geologic formations and atmospheric conditions at Purity Canyon create severe and unpredictable weather. Because blizzards, thunderstorms, and typhoons are likely, we advise tourists to avoid this area."

Jessie: I don't believe a word of it! Those guides sensationalize everything!

Loud rumble is heard.

James: Hey, what's that sound!?

Very strong winds force Team Rocket to grab on the umbrella for dear life.

Jessie: How many times must our plans be destroyed?

James: Before they're allowed to be tried?

Meowth: The answer to that, my friends, is blowing in the wind!

Winds finally blow away Team Rocket.

Team Rocket: Team Rocket's blasting off again!!

Scene goes to the bus stop.

Woman with glasses: It doesn't look like there are any more passengers for this month's trip. I know it's a little early to leave, but the bus is full and the weather's getting bad.

Lady bus driver: It sure is. We'd better get going. *Smiles* 'Bye. *Closes bus door and drives off*

Ash: Hey, wait for us! *Brock trips and knocks over Misty and Ash down the cliff and lands behind the woman with glasses*

Woman: Are you okay?

Ash: Yeah. Do you know if the bus to Purity Canyon stops here?

Woman: Yes, it does, but I'm afraid you just missed it.

Brock: Forget the bus. If you'd like to stay dry there's plenty of room under my frying pan if we get real close!

Woman: Huh?

Misty: *Grabs Brock's ear* I can smell what you're cooking up!

Brock: A-ah! Not the ear!

Ash: There's gotta be a way to catch up with that bus!

Woman: Not when the weather gets like this. The wind and the rain are treacherous here, and the roads can become incredibly dangerous. It's hard enough to make it by bus. By foot you don't stand a chance! Why don't we all get out of this rain? *Looks at nearby cabin*

Bus continues to drive up Purity Canyon. Soon, strong winds pick up the bus in a whirlwind. Scene zooms out as a computer screen, and Mewtwo's paws point at it, exuding psychic energy. The bus stops in its tracks in midair and lands softly to the ground.

Passenger: This is like some kind of miracle!

Passenger: I can't believe it!

Lady bus driver: How could this... happen?

Scene shifts back to the cave room with the computer screen as Mewtwo, Meowtwo, and Pikatwo watch the screen.

Pikatwo: Pika? Pika pikachu?

Mewtwo: You ask, why did I save those humans?

Pikatwo: *Nods in agreement* Pika.

Mewtwo: For our own protection. An accident could bring human rescuers. We might be discovered, and our peace disrupted.

Meowtwo: Nya nya nya nya, nya nya?

Mewtwo: You believe there is another reason? That I felt concern, that I cared about the safety of those humans?

Meowtwo: *In agreement* Nya nya nya.

Mewtwo: I assure that was not the case. I could never feel compassion for humans. (Closes eyes)

Scene shows Team Rocket hanging on the umbrella by the side of a cliff.

Jessie: Good thing we had the umbrella.

James: If it wasn't for the umbrella--

Meowth: --We'd be out on a limb.

In the cabin.

Woman: *Brings out tea* The company that runs the buses built this lodge about ten years ago. People who miss the bus stay here until the next one comes around in a month.

Ash: We can't stay here a whole month. Isn't there any other way to make it across the valley?

Woman: Well, you could take a boat down Purity River at the base of the canyon and get across the valley that way.

Misty: Oh, I'd love to take a boat ride, Luna! My family runs a water Pokemon gym, and I just love the water!

Luna: Well, if you love water, you came to the right place! *Winks*

Night passes on to morning, and Luna retrieves a bucket of water from the river. She scoops a mug of it and gives it to Brock.

Luna: Have a drink, Brock.

Brock: *Sips cup, and an orange sparkling background appears as he cries* This water is absolutely delicious! This is the most devastatingly delicious drink I've ever encountered!

Misty: Hey, I wanna try some, too! *Grabs Brock's mug, takes a sip, and gets sparkly eyes in a pink background* Aaahh! It makes me feel refreshingly alive and tingly!

Ash: *With skeptical look on his face* I guess it's good, but how good can water be?

Misty: Here, take a taste and find out. *Hands mug to Ash*

Ash: (Drinks) Mmmm~ *Blue background appears, but stops abruptly* If you ask me, it kinda tastes like something's been swimming around in it.

Brock: We should've known better than to ask you!

Misty: Do you know what you're problem is!?

Brock & Misty: *Both point at Ash* You have no taste!

Ash: *In defense* Well, maybe I don't, but neither does this water! Pikachu, try some of this.

Pikachu takes a sip and gets sparkly-eyed; Togepi tries some, too, and they both jump for joy in a green background.

Misty: Looks like four out of five water drinkers prefer Purity River water.

Ash: *Embarrassed* Guess so.

Misty: I can hardly wait to ride on a river that's this super pure and clean! Come on, guys, let's go!

The gang takes a canoe down Purity River by night.

Misty: I'm kinda glad we missed the bus, Brock. The current's doing most of the work, and the water's crystal clear.

Brock: It's fine with me, but I wouldn't be so happy about this nice clean water if I were you.

Misty: Huh?

Brock: I know how much you hate Bug Pokemon, and nice clean water's just what Bug Pokemon love.

Misty: *Has confident look* That's just fine because this is one time I'm not going to let Bug Pokemon bug me!

Brock: Whatever you say, Misty.

Misty: I say, "Bring on the bugs!"

Ash: Hey, look there! It's a Christmas tree!

Misty: That's no Christmas tree... is it Brock?

Brock: Not quite. That's a flock of Ledian. Ledian are Bug Pokemon. They glow like that on clear, starry nights.

Misty: Ledian, huh? You know, guys, I think I'm starting to get to like bugs. *Sees a hanging Kakuna, and gets freaked out*

Ash: These are cool Kakuna.

Brock: I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of Beedrill, too. With this many Kakuna here, there's gotta be some around.

Misty: *Sees Kakuna, Weedle, a Pinser, and a flock of Beedrill flying* Ahhhh!! *Rows canoe back to cabin single-handedly*

Back at the cabin. Misty hangs her head backwards on the rail.

Luna: You should've mentioned you don't like Bug Pokemon.

Misty: Sorry, next time you'll know.

Ash: Is there any other way across the valley?

Brock: I know there's one. *Points at mountain behind him* There! We can go straight over the top of Mt. Quena.

Luna: Oh, I don't think you wanna take that route, Brock.

Ash: Why? Is it too hard to get up there?

Luna: Mt. Quena is the highest mountain in the whole Johto region. *Scene shows a lake on top of the mountain* At the top of Mt. Quena is Clarity Lake. It goes on for miles and miles, and the water is incredibly clean and clear. *Mewtwo's new home is shown in the middle of the lake* It's beautiful, but humans could never live there. The height of the mountain and the weather even keeps visitors away. The only ones that live up there are some wild Pokemon, ones that can thrive in the extreme conditions.

Ash: Well, if there are Pokemon up there, I say we go!

Pikachu: Pika? *Sees something*

Ash: *Takes notice of it* Hey, what's that?

Flock of Butterfree fly towards Mt. Quena, spreading small, yellow powder.

Ash: It's a flock of Butterfree!

Luna: Some people say the Butterfree come here to lay their eggs on Mt. Quena.

Mewtwo, Meowtwo, and Pikatwo also see the same flock of Butterfree.

Mewtwo: For these Pokemon, life is as it should be. They were born into this world. It is their home. They belong here. We were not born as they were. We are not of this world. We do not belong in it. But where do we belong? *Faces Pikatwo and Meowtwo*

Pikatwo: Pika, pika pikachu pika pika.

Mewtwo: Do we truly deserve to live here as much as the other Pokemon do?

Pikatwo: *In agreement* Pika.

Mewtwo: We are unlike the others.

Meowtwo: Nya nya nya nya, nya nya.

Mewtwo: Yes, I am sure the moon is round and bright to those Butterfree, just as it is to us and to any other Pokemon who sees it.

Meowtwo: Nya nya nya nya, nya nya nya.

Mewtwo: If we see the moon as they do, why can we not see the Earth as they do? Yes. *Smiles* Why?

Mewtwo, Meowtwo, and Pikatwo continue to watch the flock of Butterfree.

Ash and co. continue to watch the Butterfree.

Brock: I sure would like to see the place those Butterfree are headed.

Unfamiliar ditzy female voice: Good morning! Hee hee!

Luna: Hello? *Gets the door*

Ash: A visitor?

Misty: At this hour?

Luna opens door to reveal a blonde girl and a young man.

Blonde girl: I said "good morning" 'cause even though it's after midnight, if I said "good night," you might go to bed!

Luna: Huh?

Young man: We hate to bother you, but we've been doing some exploring, and we need a place to spend the night. Oh, by the way, my name is Cullen Calex.

Luna: *Surprised* I know that name. You're the famous researcher and professor of medicine.

Cullen: Yes, and if my guess is correct, you're Luna Carson. I've read dozens of your research papers on Pokemon. It's a real pleasure to finally meet you in person.

Luna: Please, come in. *Invites them in*

Ash: Research papers?

Luna: Working for the bus company is my part-time job. I'm actually here observing native Pokemon and their habitats.

Blonde girl: *Still in ditzy voice* Wow, I can't believe I'm meeting the Luna Carson! I'm like a totally off-the-hook fan of yours! I wanna be exactly like you when I get old!

Luna: *Gets disturbed* Great. And you are who?

Cullen: This is Domino. She works for the Pokemon Institute.

Domino: Hi, everybody!

Brock: *Slides into the scene* Oh, Domino, what a beautiful name. So black and white, yet so playful. *Takes Domino's hands* Please, let's find a quiet spot to line up and find out if we're a match.

Domino: *Sweatdrops*

Misty: *Grabs Brock by the ear* Haven't you learned by now that you shouldn't play if you can't win?

Brock: Ow, ow, ow!

Luna: *To the newcomers* I'm afraid I have some bad news: The bus won't be back for another month.

Cullen: Oh, I didn't come here to take the bus. I came to study the water.

Luna: The water?

Cullen: Yes. I've been studying the Purity River for some time now, and I've discovered that its water contains a number of rare minerals that have an amazing effect on the health of both Pokemon and human volunteers. *Takes out a vial filled with water* Here's a sample I took today. I've come here to explore Mt. Quena and unravel the secret of this miraculous water.

Luna: *Sad* That's too bad.

Cullen: Huh?

Luna: If the water does heal people, they'll come here from all over the world. Thousands of people will start coming to Mt. Quena and Purity Canyon. They might destroy the very thing they're looking for.

Cullen: I see what you mean.

Luna: Then again, Mt. Quena is practically impossible to get to.

Firecrackers start exploding, and Team Rocket is revealed.

Jessie: Hard, but we're prepared for trouble.

James: We'll scale that mountain on the double.

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation.

James: To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James: To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie: Jessie!

James: James!

Jessie: Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light!

James: Surrender now or prepare to fight fight fight!

Meowth: Meowth, that's right!

Ash, Brock and Misty: What do you want!?

Pikachu: Pika!

Domino: *Thinking to herself* I don't remember these clowns.

Jessie: Today's the day we capture Pikachu!

Ash: You never will!

Pikachu: Pika!

James: Don't bet on it, brat-o. Go electricity-absorbing wire! *Uses amazing lasso abilities to grab Pikachu from Ash's shoulder*

Ash: Pikachu!

Jessie: You may as well conserve your energy, twerp.

James: You can't shock us now that we've got your power plant on-line.

Pikachu: *Tries to use one of its thunder attacks, but it becomes useless* Pikachuuuuu!!

Meowth: We knew we'd need cable to absorb Pikachu's attacks so we planned things right down to the wire.

Team Rocket: Hahahahaha!

Meowth: Now it's time for our getaway. *Presses button on a remote control, and the Meowth balloon rises behind Team Rocket*

Ash: We burst that thing before and we'll do it again!

Jessie: Hmhm. You may have done it before, but not anymore!

Camera zooms out from the two rockets on the side of the balloon.

Jessie: Hmhmm. We've always had the team, but now we've finally got the rockets.

Domino: *Thinking to herself* Oh, they're embarrassing!

Cullen: You can't go. The air currents in this valley are treacherous. If you launch that rocket, there's a good chance we'll never see you again.

Jessie: *In admiration* Finally, a man with intelligence, intensity, and a ruggedly attractive stubble who cares about me passionately. What could this strange sensation be? It must be love! But our love can never be. I have already given my heart to Team Rocket. *Puts out hand as if to stop Cullen* Please, don't try to beg. I must leave you.

Meowth: When it comes to romance, she's got a pretty vivid imagination.

James: And that's all she's got.

Jessie: *Yells at James and Meowth* I'm not finished yet! *Continues her speech* Now we must go our separate ways, but I hope that when you think of me, as you most certainly will, remember that there is something good in "good-bye." *Presses button on remote control that ignites the rockets, causing Team Rocket to fly off in the balloon*

Ash: Pikachu!

Jessie: *Struggling from force of flying upwards* Farewell, my love. This unfeeling rocket now carries me away towards the pale and heartless moon.

Meowth: I don't see no moon.

Jessie: It was there a second ago.

Clouds cover the moon.

Luna: The weather's changing again. Taking off in a balloon like that is careless and reckless.

Domino: You forgot to mention brainless.

Ash: If they get away, I might never see Pikachu again.

The Meowth balloon gets carried away from left to right by the strong winds as Team Rocket holds on tight.

Ash: *To Luna* I have to follow Team Rocket, no matter what.

Luna: Well, if that's the case... *Takes mountain climbing equipment* I know Mt. Quena pretty well and I'll lead you up there. I'm ready when you are.

Ash, Broca and Misty: We're ready, Luna!

Togepi: *Chirps in agreement*

Cullen: And I'm ready, too.

Everyone climbs up Mt. Quena, with Cullen and Domino behind the group.

Domino: *Back to ditzy voice* Oh, this is so scary.

Cullen: You knew this would be tough. You should've stayed at the lodge.

Domino: Staying there alone would've been even scarier.

The strong winds knock a big boulder off towards Domino, but she gets out of the boulder's way skillfully.

Cullen: Domino!

Domino: Here I am! *Giggles* I'm pretty lucky. That big rock missed me by an inch! Mmhm!

Cullen: *Stares at Domino in disbelief*

Scene reveals Mewtwo watching the storm outside the cave window; then it shifts back to Team Rocket.

James: With all these updrafts, downdrafts, and sideways drafts, we're not getting anywhere.

Jessie: Do you think we're in danger?

Meowth: As long as we got them rockets, I'm sure we'll be okay.

Ironically, the rockets stop functioning, much to Team Rocket's surprise. Luna and everyone else are hanging on to a rope as they climb the mountain.

Luna: It's getting windy!

Team Rocket's balloon fly past them as they yell.

Ash: There goes Team Rocket! *Yells to them* Hey, come back here! Huh?

Ash's wish comes true as the balloon flies towards them.

Luna: Look out, it's headed right this way!

Team Rocket's ballon collides with Luna's rope and apparently attaches to it, bringing the whole group with it.

Meowth: With all of them hanging on, we're never gonna get away.

Wobbuffet: *Comes out of its PokeBall* Wobbuffet!

Jessie: *Yells* You're gonna drag us down, you lightweight! Return! *Gets Wobbuffet to go back in its PokeBall*

The balloon rises up in the sky as the winds suddenly stop, overlooking Clarity Lake.

Jessie: The wind just stopped.

Light emerges through the cave window outside.

Mewtwo: *To himself* The storm is over... for now.

Scene switches back to Team Rocket.

Jessie: A gigantic lake.

Meowth: And look at that island.

Domino looks through her binoculars and finds Mewtwo's bio-print though the cave's walls.

Domino: I think I see... *Zooms in on Mewtwo* ...just what we're looking for. *Clarifies screen to reveal physical appearance of Mewtwo to Giovanni in another room* It's definitely Mewtwo.

Giovanni: You got away from me once. It won't happen again, my friend.

From the cave, Mewtwo recognizes the trio hanging on to the rope.

Mewtwo: Those children again. *Meowtwo and Pikatwo rush to Mewtwo* Can this be an accident, or is it something... more?

Scene focuses on Giovanni.

Giovanni: *To himself* Now we will find out once and for all whose will is stronger! *Breaks drinking glass with his bare hands* Heh.

Camera zooms out to reveal that Giovanni is in a helicopter flying towards Mt. Quena.

Domino continues to spy through her binoculars.

Domino: Well, what's this? *Zooms in on Meowtwo and Pikatwo* I've spotted Pokemon with bio-prints similar to Mewtwo's. *Camera zooms out to Giovanni's room*

Giovanni: That doesn't surprise me. It's natural that Mewtwo should want to be with its own kind... no matter how unnatural they may be. 009, begin operations at once.

Domino: Copy. Over and out. *Puts away walkie-talkie and quickly climbs up the rope with ease*

Ash: Huh? *Domino steps on his head* Ow!

Luna: *Sees Domino* Ow.

Domino finally reaches the basket of the balloon.

Jessie: Hey, who are you?

Domino: *To walkie-talkie* 009 to Team Rocket Combat Unit leaders. Proceed to coordinates.

James: The Team Rocket Combat Unit?

Jessie: They're here?

Meowth: Where?

Over the horizon, Team Rocket blimps fly towards the island, along with Giovanni's helicopter.

Jessie: There they are.

James: Pretty impressive.

Meowth: Where's the Meowth head ballons?

Luna and the gang starts climbing up the rope.

Ash: Now we've got ya! *Gets pushed aside by Misty, Brock, and Cullen*

Cullen: Domino, what are you doing?

James: Domino?

Jessie: Is that you're real name?

Domino: I don't reveal my true identity. That's a secret I keep to myself. Things are simpler that way. But, within the elite ranks of Team Rocket, I have an identity that's known to all! *Reveals her Team Rocket uniform* Ha ha! My fellow agents know me as 009, Domino, but my adversaries know me as simply the Black Tulip.

Cullen: Black Tulip? But you told me that you worked for the Pokemon Institute.

Domino: I do, but Team Rocket has agents working everywhere. You just never know. It may look innocent, but a friendly face may be hiding our fiercest foe.

Jessie: *Puts on a smile* Look at our faces.

James: *Also has a smile* They're friendly.

Meowth: And foe-y.

Domino: All I see are the faces of losers. *Falls backward but hangs on sideways with her foot anchored on a railing* Here's a little souvenir. *Throws the black tulip to the balloon, which pierces it and sends the gang flying* Bye. Nice to see you go. Ha ha ha! *Jumps off and activates her hang glider from her backpack to fly away*
